About Myroho

Myroho (my roaming hordes) was established in Edinburgh in winter 2007 by two brothers, Iain and Colin, who had recently returned from backpacking trips.

They visualised a website where travellers could find volunteer work without paying commission; locate backpacker parties and events, and share advice and stories.

To develop this idea, Iain and Colin designed a basic 'beta' version of the website to be tested by a restricted membership over a twelve month trial period.

The 'beta' community included a vibrant mix of backpackers and international volunteers, alongside representatives from a wide range of volunteer projects.

In winter 2008, a new version of myroho launches. Based on feedback from the myroho community, Iain and Colin have designed an advanced and intuitive website.

The new myroho features a forum, improved posting layouts with space for videos, maps, extra photos and reader comments, plus innovative member profile pages.

Having completed the 'beta' development, Iain and Colin intend to extend the myroho community throughout 2009, while staying true to their founding vision.

Iain and Colin are committed to environmental sustainability, the site is hosted on a green energy server and personal computer carbon omissions have been offset.

For Iain and Colin the greatest reward is to see like minded people using and enjoying myroho, especially those supporting good causes and sharing knowledge.

Into 2009 and beyond, Iain and Colin plan to extend the number and variety of volunteer projects on myroho, and continue improving the site’s social elements.

Iain and Colin would like to thank Emma, Johathon, Rob, Chin, Diana, Steven, Julia and the entire myroho community for their continued support and enthusiasm.
